Moving on from the Badlands

I'll be posting JPEGs from my digital camera edited on my phone while I'm gone, just so I can blog. When I get back I'll have my film developed, and that's what I really care about.

So after an hour of hanging out at The Badlands National Park I realized something. . . .  I don't like the badlands. When you first get into the park you're greeted by the "Big Badlands Overlook". After walking around and taking it in I sat down to quickly write the last blog post. Looking up I surveyed the vast landscape of the badlands and I was hit with a sudden feeling of boredom.  I decided to drive around a bit and see if I could find anything more interesting.  Sadly I didn't.  All I found were rocks and mounds of dirt, eluminated by the big obnoxiously bright sun. If you've never been anywhere that's vast,  flat,  dry,  and has big rocks before then you'll love it.  I spent eight years in Texas,  so I'm going to pass on this one. On to Glacier National Park in Montana!

PS.  I got lunch at a place called Blaze Pizza.  It's rad. If you have one near you check it out.  It's basically as if Chipotle were a pizza place. (I know Chipotle has a pizza place,  but there are only two locations so good look ever finding one)

Roadtrip Day 3

Two days and 1594 miles after leaving Philadelphia and I'm finally at the Badlands.  So far I've been sleeping at interstate rest stops in the makeshift bed I put in the back of my car.  It's been pretty comfortable, and it's already saved me money over paying for a campsite.

A couple hours before the storm hit.  I never saw it coming until I checked the weather.

The first night I slept in Illinois.  Last night I spent in South Dakota about an hour from the Badlands National Park during a pretty crazy thunderstorm.  My Honda Civic mini home was super cozy.

This morning I woke up to much clearer weather and drove the last hour to the badlands.
